| Got this puppy to replace a stock Shimano Alivio and expected an improvemetnt in performance. What I got was nothing short of a miracle! Once I got this baby tweaked in on the cable adjustment it was on! When upshifing on inclines, I felt like I had an automatic transmission! I couldn't even feel the upshift. Even under full load out of the saddle this derailleur is outstanding. I am amazed at the difference this component has made. My bike feels like a $2000 package! Bravo Shimano! |

| The new Shimano Shadow rear derailleur is designed to tuck the rear derailleur closer to the frame in order to minimize damage from trail side obstacles and crashes. The low profile design of the derailleur is intended for more aggressive riding; because the parallelogram sticks out less far, (the whole mechanism sits inboard of the QR) the end of your axle would end up taking the impact of a dropped bike. In addition, the "Shadow" derailleur has increased vertical stability to prevent hitting the chain stay in very bumpy terrain. No need to worry about the derailleur when taking extreme trails with high speed.
