Little size BIG LIGHT

I took in several CatEye lights from the 100 to 500 series, tested all, and came back to this little sized package with big light. EASY on/off your bike features and I can use it as a flash light when it is off my bike. Buy the package with tail light and you are set. Add another headlight if you want great dark night coverage when you are alone and out in the boonies. Gives you much for the buck and lots of life on the batteries. Mine has been banged around and is still glowing. A+++

You're better off strapping a flashlight to your head

This light is utter garbage. Over the time that I've had it (bought it for $30 new), I've experienced the following problems:

- short battery life. For 4 rechargeable AA batteries, I get at *most* 4 weeks of bright operation on my nighttime commute (20 minutes). That's about 400 minutes, or just under 7 hours -- and that's a liberal estimate. Well below what they promise.

- mechanical instability. The light is removable from the housing (which is screwed onto your handlebar). When I go over minor bumps in the road, it flops around and fails to maintain a straight line of sight. I ride a road bike, so it's not like I'm bouncing around from pothole to pothole. It's flimsy.

- electrical instability. When I go over said minor bumps, the light will SHUT ITSELF OFF!!!! I have to slap it and turn it back on. I'm guessing contact is lost somewhere in the circuit, but given that it's a simple light, I have no patience for such a poor design.

- it's not waterproof. Well, this isn't a bug, but it would be nice if they designed something with a better seal so you could use it in the rain. I put a clear latex glove over it to keep the water out. Not that it helped, given the poor quality of electrical contact it had to start with....

Avoid this!!! Get something that will actually work.
