Like many of the multi-LED lights, the LED's are on a flat panel with no focusing shroud/reflector. Construction is top notch and its weather sealed. At the $40 mark (just a bit more money) you can get a much much better light by switching to streamlight, you'll be able to adjust the focus and get more life out of the batteries (though they're more expensive batteries too). That said, this is a good light and the belt holster is both a perfect fit and relatively durable. It's no pocket flashlight mind you!
