The good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'll state right off that I consider myself technically and mechanically adept, and I've been wrenching my own bikes for over 30 years. If you aren't adept, do not even consider these cables (at least as a DIY application). The ugly first - be very, very wary of the exact length of *housing* that you need. The cable and sheath are long enough for any mountain bike application - BUT - some bikes will require a longer housing, and Aztec will piss and moan that you'll need to buy *two* sets to give you enough cable (absolutely NO WAY says this buyer... one set should meet the needs of any bike except for recumbants or tandems). After ranting on the phone, they finally did send me extra housing (but they still wanted to sell it to me - it was only after I gave the "I know ten people, who will each tell ten people..." that they finally broke down. I have a Titus Moto-Lite, and it should be noted that there are two sections of my cable route that are *not* in housings (under the top tube and along the seatstay. Clearly, someone flubbed in the design of the housing length to package. Measure carefully, because there is *no* room for error. The bad (and this is for those who might not be fully coordinated) is that when you're assembling, you *must* be careful to line up each individual metal cylinder the right way - they fit together one way, in one direction. Personally, I had no problems because I was *very* careful, but I could also easily see that with one little slip, you will lose the whole lot all over your garage floor. The good - once you get the right housing length, and get the cylinders all threaded and installed, and everything set just right, you will have *no* problems with this cable set-up. Aside from the expected cable stretch (easily tweaked by the barrel adjuster), I've had flawless operation. After about a year, I did have the outside (clear) housing crack, but this didn't affect performance. Over more time, I did replace the outside housing (with the extra that Aztec begrudgingly sent to me), and I'm back good to go. Because of the cable sheath, which runs the entire length of the cable, from inside the shifter all the way to the securing bolt on the derailleur, I have had absolutely no issues with gumming up (while I do live in the desert SW, I have ridden in a share of rain, mud, etc.). My overall rating is mostly due to the hassle over the housing length... if you address this from the get-go, then I would rate these cables at least a 4-star.
