I am quite happy... as metioned some items are a bit cheap, but the nice thing is the are pretty much all standard bike parts, but the motor and electronics which are quite solid, and stand up to rain and puddle spray.
I have replaced the batteries once now.... wasn't absolutely necessary, but range was dropping, and charge time increasing.... and now have those batteries for huricane power back up.... I have a lot of stuf that will run on 12V and low power drain.... like, DSL Modem, laptop, etc., that will still do well on half depleted batteries, as long as you keep them charged periodically.
My Gas expenses, are about $10/mo. (even at $3+/gal) Car only used for shopping taking the LARGE dog out, or a passenger. Bike is used for all else.
As to range that is LEVEL GROUD and AVERAGE weight. I and a bit heavy but Key West is flat as a pancake... and I have several times gone to 12+ miles as still not hit the half warning full time.
And that is a key thig if you do't need to, don't keep the throttle wide open and ALWAYS peddle to at least get going, and then comfortably there after.
Again in Flat KW... I leave it in 7 gear always... but always peddle to get going (where the MAX batt load is) And then only enough juice to keep the peddling comfortable... occassionally full throttle on the slight upgrades here or frequet head winds... but also no juice at all on down grades and no headwind.
Just like saving gas... this vehicle is about conservation, AND EXERCISE we all need... yet keeping it comfortable.
Doubt they would work well in very hilly areas, but in rather fat ones they are great.
BTW uses standard 12V/12AH UPS batteries, and rather expensive if bought from Curry.... if you are willing to disassemble the battery pack and DIY, it can be done for $50-60 vs $120 for a set of 2, ad that is just for the batteries to, last I looked at the site, not the entire packs.
